Meditation in Outer Space

Throughout my life, I have gained
inspiration from the Night Sky. Several nights of my youth were spent laying in a field where I witnessed the subtle movement of sprawling starscape above. These were moments of contemplation, deep spiritual awakenings which spurred me to consider the relative insignificance of my own being to the ebb and flow of the Universe around me. This spiraled me down a path of thinking contradictory to the Christian upbringing I was accustomed but never fully accepted.

While living in an urban setting, I became distanced from the Night Sky which inspired me. I created this video in order to reconnect with the spiritual experience of laying beneath a starscape. This work informs later photographic explorations of light pollution and the Night Sky where I experience a deepening connection to the stars via pilgrimages into the wilderness.
