Technobabble

I sit still, caught in the embrace of the machine. My subconscious mind wanders into an infinite boggle of television quotes and online messages. Sometimes I babble quotes from TV to my friends, other times I am just talking to the computer. Cursing at the screen for displaying an inconsequential error, I find myself lost in the ebb and flow of the workflow. After long hours of staring into the screen, my mind goes on autopilot.

Technobabble is a self portrait of myself in 2005, when I had to reconcile losing an enormous project to a computer crash. This video is a method of easing the tension between my psyche and the computer. Lo-Fi video effects sequenced live with VDMX’s GridPro allow me to layer and distort my appearance as I plummet further into the lull of the electronic screen. I am trapped into the routine clicks and movements of the mouse, the interface wraps itself around my perceptual awareness and forces me to conform.

I am trapped in the evolution of high technology, the constant influx of electronic gadgetry and screen based media warps my psyche until I forget my analog weltanschauung before succumbing to the technological embrace.
