Live Without Dead Time
Live Without Dead Time is an ongoing series of photographs that illustrate the obsession many of us now have with electronic devices. This project is an investigation into how the fast paced lifestyle we experience alters the condition of our personal relationships and community.

Where would we be without telecommunication, the appliances of the modern home, the conveniences afforded to us by advancements in technology? This is uncertain as a family addicted to the grid during a blackout. Devices run low on batteries and eventually turn off. Our connection to the outside world is severed. Suddenly the anxiety sets in.
We can no longer figure out how to navigate the landscape without the aid of a device. The connectivity promised to us by telecom corporations is actually separating us. Ego blinds us from understanding the effects of living inside a consumer culture. Is it your choice when you have to feel so productive? When was the last time you couldn’t restrain yourself from buying the latest upgrade?
The world never actually shrank, as our distance from one another increased. It is time we live without dead time, when we sit still in front of the glowing screen, staring into infinity just six feet away. – Dr Era Sure
